The Centre for Community Practice is Govanhill Baths Community Trust’s innovative social enterprise which aims to promote holistic regeneration through community based education and research. The Centre brings together partners from fields of design, sociology and education to enable a rounded understanding of development processes which engage physical and social environment.
Values
Our work is underpinned by the following principles:
—All people are equal
—Sustainable development evolves from within and is only possible if led by local knowledge and interests
—Sustainable development does not undermine the natural resource base
Our Work
As a recently established enterprise the Centre for Community Practice is developing a programme which responds to the interests and aspirations of people living and working in Govanhill. We are working on a range of projects which focus on environment, health and intergenerational concerns. These include community based research and recreational informal learning opportunities as well as accredited courses.
We are also interested in promoting and enabling holistic regeneration across the city and beyond, through practice and the production of resources.
You can read about the projects which are in development on the ‘Projects’ page. We are interested in your thoughts, feedback and any new ideas. Please comment on our ‘blog’.
